Hey, yeah I'm still here. Remember back when I said I'd come into possession of some old papers and such? Well, I've gone and started an entire project around some of them. Enter:
The Youth's Companion Project.
The Youth's Companion was a magazine that was published from the 1820's up through the 1920's. I came into a few partial issues, and two complete ones. Since they (should be) are in the public domain by now, and from what I have read the original archives no longer exist... this will be an attempt to recreate the archives. Ambitious? I dunno. Depends on how much support I can get to carry the thing out.
So if you're interested in reading what kids of the 20's and before were reading instead of watching Pokemon and playing video games... check it out. There's lots of cool and some just weird ads in there as well.... Like 'get your own steam engine!' and 'every boy should learn to shoot!'
And if you happen to have some issues of this lying around, and you can get them scanned in, send em my way... contact info is on the site.
